When to Contact an Oncology or Hematology Physician
A primary care physician, hospital physician, surgeon, or another specialist may recommend an oncology or hematology consultation after reviewing symptoms, imaging, pathology, or laboratory results. Patients may also contact the office after receiving a cancer diagnosis, when ongoing oncology care is needed, or when blood test findings require specialist review. The office team can explain whether a referral is required and which records should be sent before the appointment.
